Services
Residential Services
Residential
Services: Considered the 'backbone' of the ICF, this department
concentrates on teaching residents daily living skills and other skills
necessary so each person can reach their highest level of independence.
Residential Training Instructors impart skills many take for granted
such as: brushing teeth, toileting skills, laundry skills, self-hygiene,
grooming, travel training, survival skills and dining etiquette. Special
care is taken to tailor each goal to the level and need of the resident.
Staff empower residents to maintain their own care as much as possible,
but ensure all residential needs are met while maintaining each person's
dignity.
Health Services
Health Services: Key Pine Village has a full compliment of
medical professionals who utilize a holistic approach with our
residents.
The ICF has a fully staffed clinic which is open daily from 6am until
10pm, and has an on-call supervisor on duty 24 hours per day. The Health
Services Supervisor works closely with the Medical Director,
Psychiatrist, Pharmacist, Therapists, and all other disciplines to
ensure a continuum of care is maintained for each resident.
Therapies
All therapies are directed at the prevention of further
disability and the restoration of each resident's highest possible
functional level.
A licensed Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and Speech
Therapist visit the Key Pine Village campus on a regular basis and
perform an evaluation on each resident at least annually.
Therapy is normally conducted in an individual setting after the
therapist consults with other staff members to maximize the
effectiveness of skills training.
Therapy programs are individually designed to assist each resident in
achieving his/her greatest functional capacity.
Nutrition Services
Key
Pine Village employs one of the best teams of cooks and kitchen staff in
the county.
Led by a Registered Dietician, and a professionally trained chef, the
ICF Nutrition Services Department provides wholesome, quality meals to
all of its residents three times per day.
This department maintains a robust selection of menu items while
catering to the prescriptive dietary needs of each resident.
Behavior Analysis
Led by a PhD-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst, the
Behavior Science Department uses scientifically proven methods to change
socially significant behavior. The focus of this department is to target
inappropriate behaviors, and teach residents new social and behavioral
skills to replace the undesired behaviors.
Staffed by a team of Board Certified Analysts and Board Certified
Associate Analysts, Key Pine Village has fully adopted a philosophy of
positive reinforcement. This approach has significantly reduced the
amount of medication many residents had been taking for years, while
decreasing patterns of inappropriate behaviors.
Recreation
Key Pine Village employs a Licensed Personal Trainer, two
Recreational Specialists, and a Certified Lifeguard to provide life
enrichment activities to all of its residents.
The Recreation Department offers a variety of activities which are aimed
at improving socialization skills, physical fitness, and self esteem.
The Recreation Department maintains a fitness club complete with a
Universal Weight Machine, Treadmills, assorted free weights, and
stationary bicycles.
Adjacent to the fitness club is the 20x30 in-ground swimming pool, which
is monitored by the lifeguard. The Recreation Department actively
involves resident participation in Special Olympics as well as providing
opportunities for community integration.
Case Management
Our
Case Management Department acts as the main advocate for all residents
in the ICF.
Dedicated to the guarantee of each resident's human and civil rights,
the Case Management Department provides various forms of counseling to
each of the residents in addition to acting as a liaison between outside
agencies and families. They host Resident Government Meetings, Coping
Skills Classes, Couples Classes, and coordinate home visits. Here, ICF
residents can find a confidant, express frustrations, file a grievance,
and coordinate to vote.
